In 2004, Rina and Venugopal Ambady set out to build their dream house in the city they call home, Chennai. This labour of love resulted in a traditional Malayalee "nalukettu" (cenrtal courtyard) house, with a Chettinad twist. While Rina focused on the interiors and style, Venugopal used his green thumb to create the lawn and garden (with 200+ potted plants!).

In addition to renting out the house and lawn space, we also offer event planning services to help ease the stress on your big day! Renting our venue comes with the added advantage of a phenomenal decorator who has worked with us for 15 years and is best equipped to take your desired theme and create a magical ambience in our space.

Even though most of our events take place outdoors (in the courtyard or lawn), we take extra precaution by sanitizing the space before, during and after each event. We are equipped with hand sanitizing stations at convenient ulocations throughout the space.

Want to do the earth a favour and have a zero-waste wedding? Ask us how! We have eco-friendly replacements for almost every element required for your event. In 2022, we are making efforts to compost on site and ensure 100% recycling of dry waste.
Feature of the venue
Traditional Nalukettu House
The naalukettu or central courtyard is a typical feature of the Kerala tharavadu tradition. This space is the perfect place to hold smaller, intimate ceremonies.
6000 sq. ft. Grass Lawn
The well-manicured and sprawling lawn space that greets you as soon as you enter our space is ideal for any type of celebration. The lawn can also be covered during the monsoons or if your theme requires it.
Mantap
The mantap sits beside the lawn and works well for any event that is being held outdoors in the lawn.
Swing under the Banyan Tree
This unique space consists of a swing hung under a beautiful old Banyan tree. The setting is perfect for smaller events like Mehendhi or Oonjal ceremonies, or even just a photo shoot.
Side Lawn
Our side lawn is currently being developed to add a new space that can be utilized for an event. Watch this space for more!
